Agilent Technologies - Active Components

Agilent Technologies Agilent had its origins as a division of HP (Hewlett-Packard) and subsequently became an independent company in 1999. In 2005, Agilent's semiconductor business underwent a spinoff and began operating under the name Avago. Avago ranks second in fiber-optic transceivers, a market chased by Intel and others in anticipation of the day that the photon will work hand in hand with the electron to transfer information. Alongside, Avago focuses on the design of value-added products such as proximity sensors for automating speakerphones, position sensors to enhance camera phone focusing capabilities, and ambient light photo sensors that automatically adjust display brightness to conserve battery life.

In 2014, another split occurred within the company. The life sciences and chemical analysis division retained the Agilent name, continuing to provide solutions in those respective fields. Meanwhile, the electronic measurement and EDA (Electronic Design Automation) software division rebranded as Keysight Technologies. Keysight Technologies specializes in manufacturing optics, including LED and laser components, as well as semiconductors. Additionally, they develop EDA software and produce test and measurement equipment tailored for the electronics industry.
