omus Technology BV, located in Heerlen and operating under the brand name Coto Technology (formerly known as Coto Technology BV), specializes in producing reed switches. These non-chemical components are primarily made of nickel-iron and glass and do not release any substances under normal and foreseeable conditions of use. Consequently, Comus Technology BV is classified as a downstream user according to REACH legislation. This designation means there is no obligation to register the substances in reed switches or to produce material safety data sheets (MSDS).
Comus International was founded in June 1978 by President Robert P. Romano. Initially, the company focused on manufacturing glass mercury tilt switches. Through Romano's leadership, the company successfully developed metal mercury switches and ultimately patented non-mercury switches.
