About san-o

:

San-O Industrial Corporation was founded by SOC Corporation in 1977 to serve the North American market. Its facility has always been located in Long Island, New York. Initially, the company provided products manufactured at other SOC locations worldwide. In 1981, San-O Industrial began manufacturing fuses for the telecommunications market and has continued to grow since then. SOC Corporation, the parent company, was established in Tokyo, Japan, on November 27, 1958, as San-O Industrial Corporation. "San-O" means "Three Kings" in Japanese, reflecting SOC's commitment to valuing its customers, shareholders, and employees.

At the time of its founding, SOC Corporation produced fuse elements from alloys such as lead (Pb) and tin (Sn), as well as pure metals like zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), and silver (Ag). However, each fuse contained only one type of element. Engineers recognized that television fuses often blew due to the large transitional currents flowing for several milliseconds when televisions were switched on, reaching surge currents of up to 60 A. SOC invented a wound fuse element that could handle these surge currents while still blowing for potentially dangerous currents. This innovation eliminated the need for spare fuses in electronic equipment, starting with color televisions.

For appliances requiring large starting torque for their motor circuits, such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines, SOC developed a new type of fuse element in 1975. By winding the element around a ceramic core, SOC created time-delay fuses with extremely stable performance. Prior to this, fuses relied on metals with low melting points and mechanical springs, resulting in inconsistent performance.

SOC expanded its global presence by establishing sales offices in the Netherlands and Singapore in 1990 and opening a new factory in Akita Prefecture, Japan, in 1991. The company is currently collaborating with automobile manufacturers to develop fuses for next-generation circuits, aiming to provide the world's highest quality and most capable fuses.

In 1980, SOC responded to the demand for fast-acting fuses required by computer-controlled, electronic automatic exchanges to prevent lightning strike damage by developing the SM series quick-acting fuse.

San-O Industrial specializes in small fuses and fuse holders for the electronics industry. Its product range includes Surface Mount Fuses, Standard Cartridge & Leaded Fuses, and Telecommunication Fuses.

SOC High Voltage DC Fuses: PT Series, PL Series

These fuses are committed to the downsizing and weight reduction of devices through dimensional design that conforms to current ratings and reduces the occupied area within the device.

SOC Low Current DC Fuse: MCF3

With a width of 1.2 mm, a height of 1.5 mm, and a length of 2.4 mm, the element in mid-air and sealed structural special characteristics of SOC’s compact surface mount fuse satisfy the requirements of devices with low power loss and intrinsic safety explosion-proof structural demands.
