Until now, the epitome for an Ethernet interface in an IP20 environment has been the RJ45 connector. This connector is the most widely used in the world and, thus, loved by its users. However, many users tend to have a love-hate relationship with the RJ45 because of its weak latching levers and occasional contact difficulties. As devices (including flat mobile devices, displays, smaller automation devices, cameras and sensors) become smaller, the size of the RJ45 limits the miniaturisation potential. Thus, a smaller and stronger connector is on the wish list of many users and developers. They are also looking for Cat. 6a performance for 1/10 Gbit/s Ethernet at the control level. HARTING's ix Industrial® is an integrated system that meets all these requirements.
HARTING ix Industrial® Ethernet Interfaces adhere to the IEC 61076-3-124 standard and are offered in 90° angled variations. These interfaces boast a durable design with 5000 mating cycles, an IP20 protection rating, 360° contact shielding, an IDC range from 26AWG to 22AWG, and an operational temperature range spanning from -40°C to 85°C. Specifically designed for 10GBit/s Ethernet and Cat 6A, the miniaturized interfaces consist of Type A for industrial Ethernet data interfaces and Type B for signals and serial BUS systems with comprehensive 360° shielding. In response to the challenges presented by Industry 4.0 and the IoT, HARTING ix Industrial excels through its compact size, exceptional performance, and robust build. This high-performance solution occupies up to 70% less space, offering increased resilience and durability compared to standard RJ45 alternatives.
