Magnetics – Mechanical Components

Magnetics
Magnetics® is a leading world supplier of precision soft magnetic components and materials to the electronics industry. Magnetics specializes in research, design and production of a broad range of high-quality powder cores, ferrite cores and tape wound cores for applications such as chokes, inductors, filter, transformers and power supply components for use in alternative energy, telecommunications, aerospace, military, computer, medical and other electronics systems.

Magnetics is the only global supplier with development, design and manufacturing operations for three soft magnetic product types: powder cores, ferrite cores and strip wound cores. This breadth of experience gives Magnetics the ability to respond to most magnetic product or application needs.

A recognized leader in quality and reliability, Magnetics’ products are manufactured to conform to international standards for electrical, dimensional and visual requirements. In addition, Magnetics’ products comply with global environmental initiatives.

Products: Powder Cores, Ferrite Cores, & Tape Wound Cores

magnetic products

Powder Cores

Magnetics® powder cores are excellent as low loss inductors for switched mode power supplies (SMPS), switching regulators, and noise filters. Molypermalloy Powder cores (MPP), High Flux cores, Kool Mµ®cores, XFlux® cores, and Kool Mµ® MAX cores are available, some in a variety of shapes. Magnetics also offers hardware and accessories for some powder cores.

Applications include:

  • Power factor correction (PFC)
  • Boost inductors
  • Output inductors
  • Flyback transformers
  • Uninterruptable power supply (UPS) inverters
  • Battery chargers
  • Other high current low ripple applications

Ferrite Cores

Magnetics Maganese Zinc (MnZn) ferrite cores offer economical solutions for a variety of applications. Magnetics offers nine ferrite materials ranging from 900µ to 15,000µ permeability which are available in a variety of industry standard sizes and shapes. Magnetics also offers hardware and accessories.

Applications include:

  • High frequency power transformers
  • Power inductors
  • Wideband transformers
  • Common mode chokes
  • EMC filters
  • Current Sensors
  • DC-DC Converters

Tape Wound Cores

Magnetics strip wound cores (more commonly referred to as Tape Wound Cores) line includes tape cores, and bobbin cores made from high permeability thin strip alloys of nickel-iron or grain oriented silicon iron. These alloys are known as Orthonol®, Alloy 48, Square Permalloy 80, Supermalloy and Magnesil®.

Applications include:

  • Current transformers
  • Inductors
  • Magnetic amplifiers (MagAmps)
  • Pulse transformers
  • Output transformers
  • Current Sensors

Magnetic Cores: Magnetic cores are typically made of materials such as iron, ferrite, or powdered metal alloys. They are used to concentrate and enhance the magnetic field in transformers and inductors, improving their efficiency and performance.

Applications:

Magnetics find applications in numerous industries, including power distribution, telecommunications, automotive, aerospace, medical devices, consumer electronics, and renewable energy systems. They are used in power supplies, electric motors, audio systems, data communication devices, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines, and many other electronic systems.
