Pacific Engineering Corporation (PEC) Fuses & Accessories

Pacific Engineering Corporation (PEC)

Established in 1961, Pacific Engineering Corporation can be broadly divided into two divisions.

1. The automotive circuit protection division, which primarily produces the various fuses installed in automobiles for automotive harness makers. With an overwhelming first place domestic share of 86%, PEC also competes for the top global position with more than one third of total worldwide market share. (Based on their 2012 research)

2. The precision metal forming division, which mainly does business with home appliance manufacturers. PEC receives orders to design forms and produce high quality parts for home electronics we use everyday such as LCD and plasma televisions, next-generation game consoles and cell phones.

As a leading automotive fuse supplier to automotive and harness manufacturers, PEC supply high quality technology products to a global market.

Pacific Engineering Corporation (PEC) is the world’s leading manufacturer of fuses for automotive and Electric Vehicle applications. With a global market share of more than 48%, PEC fuses are approved with most major automotive manufacturers in the world. In many ways PEC’s story is the history of development of automotive industry in Japan. Established in 1961, when automotive fuses were still being built by hand, PEC successfully developed the world’s first fully automated assembly equipment for Glass Tube Fuses (GLTF). In 1979, a new production system for Blade Fuses (BFAT) was rolled out, followed by the development of Slow Blow Fuses (SBF) in the mid-80s. Over the years PEC continued to innovate around customers’ changing needs by achieving miniaturization and reduction in height of blade fuses, contributing significantly to the miniaturization of fuse boxes. With the emerging new trends in electric mobility and driverless cars, PEC have emerged as the leading players in the world for EV application fuses as well, holding more than 70% global market share.

PEC series electric vehicle (EV) fuses are tailored protection solutions that feature market-leading compact and high-speed designs, with lifetime durability simulation capabilities. Available for 500 - 1000V DC vehicle systems including fuse ratings up to 1000 A, PEC EV fuses provide high performing DC protection of drive, auxiliary and battery systems. The fuses are also available as custom solutions for higher voltage and current ratings.

Products

EV Fuses

Meeting the needs of hybrid and electric cars. High Voltage automotive fuses for next generation vehicles. Electric Vehicle (EV) & Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) Fuses are used in EV and HEV application for both overloads and short circuits protection. These fuses covers 240V, 500V and 1000V applications and are used in main battery pack, battery module, junction box/auxiliary circuits or charging stations.

Blade Fuses

Automotive fuses that are most used by the automotive manufacturers in the world; The current global standard for automotive fuses and the most common fuse type.

Slow Blow Fuses

PEC independently developed slow blow fuses. PEC Slow Blow Fuses are designed to offer protection against over-current situations in electrical circuits. These fuses are characterized by their slow-blow or time-delay feature, which means they can tolerate temporary overloads without immediately blowing. Instead, they allow a brief surge in current, such as that which occurs during motor starting or other inrush currents, without tripping the fuse. PEC Slow Blow Fuses are commonly used in applications where there are intermittent high-current demands or where there is a need to accommodate startup currents without sacrificing the protection of the circuit. They provide a balance between protecting the circuit from overloads and allowing temporary surges to pass through without interruption.

Growing diversification and growing complexity in automotive circuit design

Battery Terminal Fuse

Integration of multiple fuse circuits with the battery terminal. Simplify safeguarding your high amperage wires directly from the battery with our innovative Battery Terminal Fuse. This ingenious solution integrates multiple fuse circuits right at the battery terminal, ensuring convenient protection against external short circuit faults. No matter where it's located, a fuse is vital for preventing over-current situations. If the current exceeds a specified threshold, the fuse will promptly blow or trigger, effectively interrupting the circuit and safeguarding your battery.

Fuse Accessories

Fuse accessories which make the fuse mounting and replacement easy: PEC's fuse holders integrate fuses safely in electrical circuits to ensure a robust current path and provide a method to replace fuses once they manage overcurrent events as intended.
